Intelligent Systems that Work!

Welcome to the website of the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS. We are a leading specialist science institute working at the forefront of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Big Data. We help shape the digital transformation of working and living environments within Germany and wider Europe.

Our core competencies form part of the comprehensive technology and consultation services we offer to companies from a variety of business sectors. The specialist services our key business areas offer not only help support companies in optimizing products, services, processes or structures, but also in developing new digital business models.

Our approach has always been person- and value-centric. Intelligent systems deserve our holistic approach and analysis: We do not restrict our work to specific areas of technology and methods but rather select and combine key aspects of different disciplines to help us optimize the way humans and machines interact. Our key consideration, above all, is that intelligent systems are perceived as being reliable, transparent and ethically trustworthy and that we maintain control of all of the data used.

Corona virus: Measures taken by Fraunhofer IAIS

Fraunhofer IAIS has taken far-reaching measures in an effort to slow down and minimize the spread of the new corona virus SARS-CoV-2. The vast majority of our colleagues are still working from home and we are continuing to press ahead with our projects. This also means, of course, that our customers and partners can still contact us via email and phone as before.

We are currently in the process of migrating vital classroom-based events such as our Data Scientist training program and our internal advanced training program to an online platform and are doing everything possible to maintain the programs’ interactive character including a lively exchange within these new formats.

In addition, with the CorASiV and COPERIMOPlus projects, we support health authorities in better understanding local infection incidence by visualizing and analyzing infection chains. First results of the analyses in cooperation with the health department of Cologne can be found here.
