Resilience & Sustainability

Completed projects

ALIGNER

ALIGNER is developing a European roadmap for the use of AI in law enforcement. We connect security stakeholders to combine technological potential with social benefits. The goal is to strengthen internal security through responsible and ethically sound AI innovations.

ARCH

ARCH protects cultural heritage from climate hazards and natural disasters. Together with European municipalities, we developed geodata analyses and risk assessments to secure historic districts as a functional component of urban resilience strategies.

DigitalRessourcen

The project analyzes the interaction between technological progress and natural resource consumption. We identify strategic areas of action to reconcile digitalization with ecological limits and sustainable development goals.

FORESEE

FORESEE minimizes system failures in bridges, tunnels, and transportation routes. A specially developed IT toolkit enables operators of multimodal networks to proactively increase the resilience of critical infrastructure against natural and man-made hazards.

Climate resilience in Europe

On behalf of the German Federal Environment Agency, this project brings together knowledge on climate-resilient infrastructure. We connect stakeholders from science, politics, and practice in European networks to develop innovative adaptation measures and disseminate them across the board.

RESIN

RESIN establishes standardized methods for risk analysis for cities and infrastructure. In European cities such as Paris and Manchester, we tested tools that make complex climate impacts assessable and manageable for urban planning.

RE:START

We developed a computer-based training system for the Federal Academy for Civil Protection and Civil Defense to strengthen civil defense capabilities. Using simulated disaster scenarios, we train staff to work efficiently and practically in crisis situations.

UNCHAIN

UNCHAIN optimizes the application of impact chains for the next generation of risk analyses. In eleven European case studies, we developed user-oriented methods that translate scientific findings directly into local action.
