Working on your doctorate

We consider learning to be an essential aspect of your work. If you are a scientist, this might mean studying for a doctorate. At Fraunhofer IAIS, the research element of the doctorate should always be embedded in research projects. This results in a possible topic. The doctorate takes place in cooperation with a university. We then employ the doctoral candidate as a research assistant.

As we do not offer any doctorate studies without an employment, we would kindly ask you to apply for one of our job advertisements (see below.) In your application, please mention that you would like to do a doctorate with us.

Speculative Application

Even if you have not found what you are looking for in our job advertisements, you may still have the drive and desire to apply speculatively. You are welcome to do so, but please consider that speculative applications are very rarely successful.

If you want to apply speculatively, please select a maximum of two departments or business areas and then apply online.

Your application only has a realistic chance of being successful if it is expressively written. Please send all your exam results, your academic reports and a cover letter detailing where exactly within our organisation you would like to work.

Applications without this information will not be considered.

Speculative application

In your cover letter, please state exactly which departments or business areas you would like to apply for. Please limit yourself to a maximum of two.
